There are many reasons to get a massage. It can be a crucial part of your stress management “toolbox”, helping your nervous system switch OFF the stress response. You see, the foundational part of your nervous system cannot be in two places at once. It’s either “fight or flight” or “rest and repair”. Hence the ravages of chronic stress on the body. Because massage is so effective at switching off the stress response & getting you more in touch with the body you inhabit, people tend to get better sleep and have improved mental health & wellness. Massage is also helpful with reducing and eliminating pain, promoting overall physical health by keeping your body’s joints moving & fluids circulating optimally. Our body is not meant to be stagnant, which is why exercise is so good for you! Massage is a great way to keep things moving while simultaneously letting your body wind down and deepen it’s relaxed state.
